WOOSTER, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's cross country team got off to a strong start in the 2018 season at the unscored Wooster Invitational, hosted by the College of Wooster at the L.C. Boles Memorial Golf Course.

This year's version of the meet had a slightly different look as only two races were run compared to four in years past to go along with a couple of new competitors in NCAA Division II Malone University and Lorain County Community College.

In the 4-mile event, junior Academic All-OAC selection Isaac Wilson (Tylersburg, Pa./North Clarion) placed 11th in 22:06.0 as the top Yellow Jacket finisher. The next three BW runners all finished within 10 seconds of each other as sophomore All-OAC performer Josh Hickmott (Clay, N.Y./Liverpool), senior Spencer Mahon (North Royalton) and junior Nick Irwin (Westlake) took 17th, 18th and 20th, respectively. Hickmott ran his 4-mile race in 22:27.6 while Mahon and Irwin had career-best times of 22:29.6 and 22:37.0, respectively. Freshman Joe Juda (Strongsville) rounded out the top five with a time of 23:11.7 to place 27th in his first collegiate race.

BW will return to the course on Saturday, Sept. 8, to compete in the Tommy Evans Invitational, hosted by the University of Akron at the Silver Creek Metro Park Cross Country Trails in Norton, Ohio, where the Yellow Jackets will race against many of the local Division I teams.
