Men’s Cross Country Places Sixth at All-Ohio Championships

NORTON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's cross country team placed sixth in the All-Ohio Championships, hosted by the University of Akron at the Silver Creek Metro Park Cross Country Trails.

BW placed sixth of 17 Division III programs with a total of 173 points and finished 16th of 39 teams overall. Fellow Ohio Athletic Conference program Otterbein University captured the Division III men's title with 37 points to place sixth overall.

Division I, II and III as well as NAIA and Junior College teams all compete at the All-Ohio Championships with the top-35 runners in each division receiving All-Ohio honors.

Both sophomore All-OAC performer Josh Hickmott (Clay, N.Y./Liverpool) and junior Academic All-OAC selection Isaac Wilson (Tylersburg, Pa./North Clarion) repeated as BW's All-Ohio finishers. Hickmott led the way for the Yellow Jackets with a career-best 8k time of 25 minutes, 30.6 seconds to place 15th in Division III and 52nd overall. Junior Academic All-OAC selection Isaac Wilson (Tylersburg, Pa./North Clarion) went under the 26-minute mark for the first time in his career, running a time of 25:37.4 to take 19th in Division III and 60th overall.

The career-best times continued down the line as senior Spencer Mahon (North Royalton), junior Nick Irwin (Westlake) and sophomore Andrew Krupp (Ottawa Hills) rounded out the BW top five with the best 8k races of their careers. Mahon had his best finish at the All-Ohio Championships as he took 41st place in Division III and 111th overall in a career-best 26:20.0. Irwin and Krupp finished just over one second apart from each other as Irwin finished in a career-best 26:33.1 and Krupp in his career-best of 26:34.8, placing 49th and 52nd in Division III and 125th and 128th overall, respectively.

BW will compete again on Saturday, Oct. 13, in the Inter-Regional Rumble, hosted by Oberlin College at the Oberlin Cross Country Course.
