WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's cross country team placed 10th in the highly competitive Purple Valley Classic, hosted by Williams (Mass.) College at Mount Greylock High School.

BW finished 10th out of 16 teams with 268 points while Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (N.Y.) brought home the team title with 41 points. The Yellow Jackets were the lone Great Lakes Region squad competing against Atlantic and New England Region teams, including seven programs that were nationally ranked by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association last week.

The entire team ran under control and passed the whole race while the top-five runners all finished within one minute of each other. BW's top two runners in junior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection Isaac Wilson (Tylersburg, Pa./North Clarion) and sophomore All-OAC performer Josh Hickmott (Clay, N.Y./Liverpool) put themselves in a good position to get points for the team. Wilson was the top finisher for the third meet in a row, finishing 40th in a time of 27 minutes, 3.2 seconds, while Hickmott was just a few seconds behind in 44th place in a time of 27:05.6.

Senior Spencer Mahon (North Royalton), sophomore Andrew Krupp (Ottawa Hills) and junior Nick Irwin (Westlake) rounded out the top five finishers. Mahon ran a time of 27:33.4 to finish 65th, Krupp cracked the top five for the first time this season with a time of 27:43.8 to place 76th and Irwin took 85th in a time of 27:50.6.

BW will return back to Ohio to compete in the All-Ohio Championships, hosted by the University of Akron, on Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Silver Creek Metro Park Cross Country Trails.
