BW Women's Cross Country Team is Fifth and Men Finish 14th at NCAA Region Meet at Otterbein

BEREA, OHIO --  The Baldwin Wallace University women's cross country team placed fifth and the men were 14th at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Region Meet today (Saturday, November 15, 2008) at Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio. Highlighting the meet for BW were senior Ashley Scullion (Kentwood, Mich./East Kentwood) and junior D'Arcy Hlavin (Berea) who both qualified for next week's NCAA Division III National Meet at Hanover (Ind.) College.

 
Scullion placed 13th of 233 total runners with a time of 22:53.63 and Hlavin was 17th in 23:10.16. Both runners earned All-Region accolades for their efforts. For the men, senior Nate Bowen (Fremont/Ross) was the top runner, in 23rd place of 240 runners with a time of 25:42.67 to also earned All-Region honors.
 
In addition to Hlavin and Scullion, sophomores Karen Coyne (Columbia Station/ Columbia) finished 41st in a time of 23:49.82,  Kim Chinn (Zanesville/ West Muskingum) was 46th with 23:56.60 and Krysten Kovach (North Royalton/ Parma Padua Franciscan) grabbed a 58th place finish with a time of 24:12.94. Rounding out the top seven for the women were junior Brittany Giesken (Ottawa/Ottawa-Glandorf) in 64th place with a time of 24:19.90 and sophomore Katie White (Berea) in 116th with a time of 25:13.39.
 
In addition to Bowen for the men, senior Derek Hill (Fremont/ Ross) came in 54th with a time of 26:19.13. Juniors Jimmy Eberts (North Canton/ Hoover) finished in a time of 26:29.41 for 71st place, Mark Buhoveckey (Brunswick/ Parma Padua Franciscan) was 117th in 27:05.71 and Jeff Bonezzi (Medina/ Senior) was 130th in 27:16.65. Rounding out the top seven were freshman Zach Szablewski (Tiffin/ Calvert)in 133rd place with a time of 27:21.06 and junior Brian Campbell (Berea) in 157th with a time of 27:45.73.
