BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's cross country teams both competed today (Friday, October 10, 2008) at the All-Ohio Championship Meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio. The Yellow Jacket men placed sixth overall out of 20 Division III teams with 148 points. The women placed seventh overall out of 19 teams DIII teams with a total of 182 points.
Individually for the men, senior Derek Hill (Fremont/Ross) placed fifth out of 138 runners with a time of 26:31.0. Coming in next for the Yellow Jackets was senior Nate Bowen (Fremont/Ross) who crossed the finish line in 26:49.2, good for 10th. Juniors Jimmy Eberts (North Canton/Hoover), Mark Buhoveckey (Brunswick/Parma Padua Franciscan) and Brian Campbell (Berea) rounded out the top five for the men's team, finishing 32nd, 45th, and 56th respectively. Eberts recorded a time of 27:35.7, Buhoveckey came in at 28:00.7, and Campbell completed the course in 28:16.7.
For the women, junior D'Arcy Hlavin (Berea) led the way, placing 11th out of 133 runners in a time of 19:44.8 on the 5K course. Finishing closely together were sophomore Krysten Kovach (North Royalton/Parma Padua Franciscan) in 28th with a time of 20:30.0 and junior Brittany Giesken (Ottawa/Ottawa Glandorf) in 32nd with a time of 20:38.1. Rounding out the top five for the women were sophomores Katie White (Berea)and Karin Coyne (Columbia Station/Columbia), placing 52nd and 63rd respectively. White finished in 21:03.8 with Coyne not far behind at 21:18.4.
