BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin Wallace University women's cross country team placed fifth out of 23 teams while the men finished ninth of 21 at the Otterbein College Invitational in Westerville this afternoon (Saturday, September 27, 2008).
For the women, junior D'Arcy Hlavin (Berea) led the way in 12th place after finishing the 6k course in 22:51.10. Sophomore Kim Chinn (Zanesville/ West Muskingum) was next for BW in 29th place at 23:32.30 while sophomore Karin Coyne (Columbia Station/Columbia) finished 33rd with a time of 23:37.70. Sophomores Krysten Kovach (North Royalton/Parma Padua Franciscan) and Katie White (Berea) rounded out the top five for the Yellow Jackets with 42nd and 63rd place finishes in respective times of 23:43.90 and 24:05.40.
Individually for the men, senior Derek Hill (Fremont/Ross) placed seventh overall to lead the Jackets in a time of 25:15.60. Senior Nate Bowen (Fremont/Ross) followed in 12th place at 25:26.60 while junior Jimmy Eberts(North Canton/Hoover) was 55th with a time of 26:31.70. Junior Mark Buhoveckey (Brunswick/Parma Padua Franciscan) finished 78th overall with a time of 26:52.60 and freshman Zach Szablewski (Tiffin/Calvert)rounded out the BW top five in 96th place at 27:13.0.
Next Saturday, October 4, the Yellow Jackets travel to Delaware to compete at the All-Ohio Championship Meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan at 2:00 p.m.
