BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin Wallace University women's cross country team finished third while the men finished sixth today (Saturday, September 6, 2008) at the Hanover College Madison-Kiwanis Invitational in Hanover, Indiana. Sophomore Kim Chinn (Zanesville/West Muskingum), this week's OAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, took the individual title in the women's race with a time of 19:09.82. This was Chinn's first career overall victory.

The BW women had 72 points and were third of 11 of teams. The Yellow Jacket men totalled 139 points and placed sixth of 13 schools.

In addition to Chinn, the women were led by junior D'Arcy Hlavin (Berea) who was third in a time of 19:34.16 and sophomore Karin Coyne (Columbia Station/Columbia) who finished 18th in 20:31.18. Rounding out the top five for the women were sophomores Krysten Kovach (North Royalton/Parma Padua Franciscan) andKatie White (Berea) who were 27th and 29th respectively. Kovach covered the 5K course in 21:00.43 andWhite in 21:03.25. 

Individually for the men, seniors Derek Hill (Fremont/Ross) and Nate Bowen (Fremont/Ross) placed fourth and fifth respectively, on the 8K course. Hill had the team's best time with a 26:20.51 and Bowen wasn't far behind with a 26:27.44.  Rounding out the rest of the Yellow Jacket top-five runners were juniors Jimmy Eberts (North Canton/Hoover) with a 51st place finish in a time of 27:51.05, Mark Buhoveckey (Brunswick/Parma Padua Franciscan) with a 53rd place finish in a time of 27:54.72, and Jeff Bonezzi (Medina/Senior) who crossed the tape in 56th with a 28:01.39.

Next Saturday, September 13, the Yellow Jackets travel to Bowling Green, Ohio to run at the Mel Brodt Invitational to be held at Bowling Green State University. Races start at 2:00 p.m.
