BW Men Finish Fourth at OAC North Meet

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's indoor track and field team finished fourth at the annual Ohio Athletic Conference North Split Meet on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse. This was the second meet of the winter for the Yellow Jackets.

Baldwin Wallace, Heidelberg University, John Carroll University, the University of Mount Union and Ohio Northern University were the five OAC schools competing in the meet. The other five schools participated in the OAC South Split Meet. The Yellow Jacket men scored 78 points to finish fourth of five teams.

The BW men were led by junior All-OAC thrower and 2014 NCAA Division III national qualifier Tyler Burdoff (Painesville/ Riverside) who placed first in the weight throw with a distance of 56'4". He also placed second in shot put with a throw of 49'2.25".

In addition, senior middle distance runner Isaac Baker (Lithia, Fla. / Newsome ) placed first in the 500-meter run with a time of 1:07.41 and junior Division III All-Academic sprinter and CAPITAL ONE Academic All-American Ben Beidleman (Washington, D.C./ St. Anselm's Abbey) won the 200-meter dash 23.03 seconds.

Also, senior Division III All-American decathlete Brandon Eddy (Cuyahoga Heights) placed second in the long jump with a leap of 21'4", the 4x100-meter relay team of sophomore Troy Robinson (Akron / Garfield), Baker, freshman Theodore Washington (Orlando, Fla. / First Academy) and Beidleman placed second in 1:32.46, Robinson also was second in the 200-meter dash in 23.04 seconds. Tying for third in pole vault were sophomore Johnathon Spilker (Solon) and freshman Kyle Hutchinson (Medina) with a jump of 14'6.25".

The Yellow Jacket track and field teams are back in action on Saturday and Sunday February 7 and 8 when select individuals will compete in the All-Ohio Combined Events Championships hosted by Denison University in the Mitchell Fieldhouse. Competition is slated to begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday and 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. 

The next home meet is on Friday, Feb. 13 when BW hosts the annual Mid-February Meet on the Dillard Track in the Higgins Center. Field events begin at 4 p.m.
