Men’s Swimming and Diving Team Falls to Penn-State Behrend

BEREA, Ohio. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team fell t Penn State-Behrend (Pa.) by a final score of 126-100 in a non-conference dual meet in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center. 

BW (2-3) was led by freshman freestyler Greg Shaw (Colorado Springs, Colo./ Manitou Springs) and senior All-OAC performer Jacob Burk (Bowling Green) as they each won twices. Shaw set a BW Natatorium-record in the 100-yard butterfly with a career-best time of 53.59 seconds and won the 50-yard freestyle with a career-best time of 23.10 seconds. Burk earned victories in the 1650 freee with a wall-touch at 17:31.00 and captured first place in the 500-yard free in 5:08.99.

In addition, junior All-American breaststroker Tyler Thompson (Broadview Heights/ Brecksville-Broadview Heights) won the 100-yard event in 59.73 seconds.

In relay action, the 200-yard medley quartet of freshman freestyler Matthew Bartek (Amherst/ Marion Steele), ThompsonShaw and sophomore freestyler Tyler Allison (Napoleon) won in a BW Natatorium-record time of 1:39.45.

BW is back in action on Friday, November 18 when it hosts a non-conference dual meet against Hiram College at 6 p.m.  The Yellow Jackets end their four-meet homestand on Saturday, November 19 when they host an OHio Athletic Conference meet against the University of Mount Union at 1 p.m.
