Men's Swimming and Diving Wins First Meet with Defeat of Bethany (W. Va.)

BETHANY, W. VA. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team won its first dual meet of the 2016-17 season as it posted a victory against Bethany College inside the John J. Knight Natatorium.

BW defeated Bethany by a final score of 77-61.  

The Yellow Jackets were led by freshman freestyler Greg Shaw (Colorado Springs, Colo./Manitou Springs) as he won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.65 seconds and the 100-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 51.37.

Junior All-American stroker Tyler Thompson (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) was the other winner as he touched the wall first in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 58.89 

In relay action, the 200-yard medley relay team of freshman Matthew Bartek (Amherst/Marion Steele), Thompson, Shaw and sophomore Tyler Allison (Napoleon) earned the win in a time of 1:43.16.

BW is back in action on Saturday, November 5 when it will host its home opener and an OAC meet against newest OAC swimming and diving member Manchester (Ind.) University in the BW Natatorium at 1 p.m.
