Men’s Golf Looks to Get Back in the Swing of Things

BEREA, Ohio – After a canceled 2020 spring and fall season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, seventh-year Head Coach Wayne Schneider leads the Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team in hopes of an Ohio Athletic Conference Championship.

Schneider returns four seniors, one junior and seven new faces as it looks to improve upon its 2018-19 success as OAC Runner-Ups. 

Headlining the returners are senior All-OAC performer Jimmy Clark (North Olmsted), senior Dylan Boff (Broadview Heights/North Royalton) and junior Logan Bratsch (Olmsted Falls)Clark returns as the team leader with a 75.42 stroke average, which was the fourth best single-season average in school history.  He also tied his career-low round score of 70 on two occasions. Bratsch enters his final season fresh off of a career-low 77.48 stroke average and a career-best round of 72 at John Carroll University's Rumble on the River. Boff showed significant improvement during the shortened campaign with a career-best average of 77.78 and a career low round of 71 at the Gatorade Collegiate Classic.

In addition,  the Yellow Jackets return veterans in seniors Steven Newbould (Parma/Valley Forge) and Jared Budner (Macedonia/Nordonia) and junior Connor Thomas (Medina/Buckeye). Newbould had a career year in 2019-20, scoring a career-best 81.80 stroke average and a career-low round score of 75 at Mount Union Invitational. Budner played in 11.5 rounds and had an 83.81 stoke average a season ago.  Thomas returns after missing last season. He held the team's fifth-best stroke average of 79.23 in 2018-19.

Juniors Mike Douzos (Amherst/Firelands) and Henry Neumann (Broadview Heights/Padua Franciscan) and freshmen  Alex Baker (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills), Jacin Colaco (Richfield/Revere), Mason Galindo (Goodyear, Ariz./Millennium) and Ryan Green (Conneaut/Edgewood) will look to crack into the top-five.

The Yellow Jackets tee off the season on Saturday and Sunday, March 20 and 21 when they travel to Alliance to compete in the Mount Union Spring Invitational at the Tannenhauf Golf Club.
