Pair of Milestones Highlight Men’s Basketball Team Victory at Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Ohio –  Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference guard Cam Kuhn (Vermilion) and senior All-OAC forward Jake Fetherolf (Norwalk) each hit a milestone as the Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team won an 87-69 Ohio Athletic Conference game over Wilmington College inside Fred Raizk Arena.

With his 28 points, Kuhn moved into eighth on the all-time scoring list with 1,635 points and now needs 18 points to pass Ted Johnson (1965-69) for seventh all-time with 1,652 points.

With his 10 points, Fetherolf became the 41st player in school-history to amass 1,000 career points and currently is 39th with 1,007 points.  In addition, he became the 10th player in school history to score 1,000 or more points career points and grab 700 or more career rebounds.   Fetherolf ranks sixth all-time with 846 career-rebounds.

BW (11-2, 5-1 OAC) was led by Kuhn, who scored 25 or more points for the second straight game, poured in a game-high 28 points.  Sophomore forward Tyler Colombo (Strasburg/Tuscarawas Central Catholic) tied a career-high with 11 points.  Fetherolf recorded his sixth double-double of the season and the 24th of his career as he scored 10 points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.  Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC guard Jay Battle (Gahanna/Lincoln) also contributed 10 points and dished out a game-high six assists. In addition, sophomore forward Drew Sova (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) scored a career-high nine points off the bench in just 10 minutes of action.

Wilmington (4-8, 0-6 OAC) had three players score in double digits led by junior guard Will Patrick with 21 points.  Senior forward Nathan Scott chipped in 16 points while senior guard Christian Jones added 13 points.

The Quakers took an early 13-12 lead when Patrick scored on a layup at the 14:41 mark.   The Yellow Jackets responded with a 13-1 run to take a 26-14 lead when Kuhn knocked down a pair from the charity stripe at 9:20. Wilmington answered with an 8-0 run to cut the lead down to 26-20 when senior guard Jordan Jones scored on a layup at the 7:57 mark.   BW pushed the lead to 33-23 on a jumper by Kuhn at 5:58. The Quakers cut the lead down to 39-31 on a layup by Patrick at the 1:59 mark.  The Yellow Jackets got the final points of the half when sophomore forward Tyler Colombo (Strasburg/Tuscarawas Central Catholic) hit a jumper at the 1:37 mark to give BW the 41-31 lead at the intermission.

Wilmington cut the lead down to 45-41 early in the second half when junior guard Kevin Lewis scored on a layup at the 16:28 mark.  BW went on a 6-2 lead to extend the lead to 51-43 on a Colombo layup at 14:27. The Quakers went on a 5-0 run to cut the lead down to 51-48 when Jones scored on a layup at the 13:31 mark.  The Yellow Jackets responded with a 9-0 run to push the lead to 60-48 when Sova converted the traditional three-point play at 11:10. Wilmington cut the lead down to 62-54 when Patrick hit a pair of free throws at the 9:40 mark.  BW pushed the lead to 71-59 when Colombo knocked down a three-pointer at 6:44. The Yellow Jackets outscored the Quakers, 16-10, down the stretch to secure the win.

BW is back in action on Wednesday, January 10 when they host an OAC game against Ohio Northern University in the Ursprung Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
