BEREA, Ohio –The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team scored a season-high 99 points as it rolled past Muskingum University in an Ohio Athletic Conference game by a final score of 99-70 in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.
BW (14-3, 8-2 OAC) had three players score in double figures led by senior All-OAC guard Cam Kuhn (Vermilion) as he scored a game-high and season-best 37 points, including 24 points in the first half. Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC guard Jay Battle (Gahanna/Lincoln) poured in 14 points. Senior All-OAC forward Jake Fetherolf (Norwalk) chipped in 13 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
Muskingum (7-10, 5-5 OAC) was led by sophomore All-OAC guard Marcus Dempsey as he scored 27 points, including 19 points in the first half.
The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 27-12 lead in the first half when Battle scored on a layup at the 9:26 mark. The Fighting Muskies cut the lead down to 27-18 when Dempsey knocked down a three-pointer at 8:37. BW closed the half on a 25-15 run to take a 52-33 lead at halftime.
The Yellow Jackets would push its lead to as many as 31 points in the second half when sophomore forward Jack Lostoski (Uniontown/Lake) scored on a put back to push the score to 99-68 with 2:14 remaining in the game. Muskingum would get only get as close as 14 points on two occasions with the last coming at 68-54 when junior guard Devon Peart hit a pair of free throws at 13:47.
BW is back in action on Wednesday, January 24 when it hosts an OAC game against Heidelberg University in the Ursprung Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
