WHEATON, ILL. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball fell host Wheaton College in the championship of the Lee Pfund Classic by a final score of 75-74 inside King Arena.

BW (1-1) had four players score in double figures led by sophomore guard Michael Quiring (Brunswick) as he scored a career-high 18 points.  Junior All-OAC guard Jay Battle (Gahanna/Lincoln), who was named to the all-tournament team, poured in 17 points.  Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference guard Cam Kuhn (Vermilion) who was selected to the all-tournament team, and senior All-OAC forward Jake Fetherolf (Norwalk) chipped in 14 points apiece.

Wheaton (2-0) had two players scored double figures led by Ricky Samuelson as he scored a game-high 29 points.  Aston Francis tallied 22 points.  

Both team battled back and forth for most of the opening part of the first half until the Thunder took a 15-11 lead when Samuelson knocked down a three pointer at the 11:25 mark.   The Yellow Jackets used an 16-10 run to take a 27-25 lead when Battle knocked down a pair of free throws at 4:31. The Thunder outscored BW 11-9 down the stretch and the teams were tied at 36-36 going into the locker-room.

The Yellow Jackets opened the second half on a 9-6 run to take a 45-42 when Kuhn buried a triple at the 16:00 mark.  Each team would score a basket each over the next two minutes to make give BW the 47-44 advantage at 13:52. BW went on a 14-6 run to take a 61-60 lead on three-pointer by Fetherolf at the 6:23 mark.  Wheaton used a 12-7 run to take a 72-68 lead on a layup by Trevor Gunter at 3:08.  The Yellow Jackets responded with a 4-0 run to tie the game at 72-72 when Kuhn knocked down a pair of free throws at the 1:53 mark.   Wheaton won the game at 75-74 when Samuelson converted the traditional three-point play with nine seconds remaining.
