Parnell '15 Promoted, Robinson Joins Football Staff in 2020

BEREA, Ohio –  Baldwin Wallace University Fourth-Year Head Football Coach Jim Hilvert has announced the promotion of Rynell Parnell '15 and the addition of Brandon Robinson to his coaching staff for the 2020 season.

"I am very excited about promoting Rynell and adding Brandon to the staff," stated Hilvert.  "Rynell has an expertise on the culture of both BW and the football program after working with the team for the past three years and also as an alumnus.  Brandon brings a lot of different experiences and knowledge to the BW football program. Both individuals are great people that will make a difference Baldwin Wallace University."

Parnell begins his first season as the full time defensive line coach after serving as a part time assistant coach for the past three seasons.  He returned to his alma mater after earning a Master of Arts in sports and recreation management from Kent State University.  While at Kent State, Parnell also served as an intern on the Golden Flashes football staff where he worked primarily with the defensive line. While at BW, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in sport management and business administration.  Parnell played two seasons of football before an injury cut short his collegiate career. He continued to contribute to the Yellow Jacket program as a student assistant coach with the both the varsity and junior varsity defense for the next three seasons. The Akron native graduated from Archbishop Hoban High School where was a member of the football team.

Robinson will be the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.  He comes to BW after serving as the offensive coordinator, offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator at Wheeling (W. Va.) University for the past three seasons.  Prior to Wheeling, Robinson was the wide receivers coach at Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College for one season.  He also served as a wide receivers coach and head junior varsity coach at Eaton High School for three years. Robinson earned a Bachelor of Science in integrated social studies education and a Master of Education in education leadership from Ohio Dominican University.  As an undergraduate, he was a four-year wide receiver and an All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) and Academic All-GLIAC selection.  Robinson served as a graduate assistant tights end coach while completing his masters.  The Eaton native was a standout football player at Eaton High School where he was an All-Southwestern Buckeye League first-team selection as a junior and senior. Robinson also was the SWBL Receiver of the Year, an All-Southwest District first-team pick and an All-Ohio second-team selection as senior. He is the Eaton record-holder for receptions in a season (66) and career (121). 

BW finished the 2019 campaign with an overall record of 7-3 and third place finish in the OAC with a mark of 6-3.  The Yellow Jackets will open the 2020 season at home on Saturday, September 5 with their lone non-conference game against Hampden-Sydney (Va.) College.
