Five Football Players Named to Spring All-OAC Football Team

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Five Baldwin Wallace University football players have been named to the spring All-Ohio Athletic Conference Football Team. Unlike years past, the 2021 spring team will only have an All-OAC selection and an honorable mention pick.

BW, who only played in two of its five spring contests, was represented by senior defensive back Iyan Mitchell (Tampa, Fla.) and senior offesnive lineman Patrick Simon (Olmsted Falls) as both were selected as All-OAC.  Senior defensive back Robbie Williamson (Columbus/Beechcroft) junior defensive back Anthony Kendall (Port Richey, Fla. / River Ridge) and junior running back Jon Murray, Jr. (Cincinnati/Withrow) were honorable mention selections.

Mitchell, who made the move to defensive back this spring, earns his second honor after being  a second-team selection in 2019.  He appeared in two games and returned eight kickoffs for 179 yards and one punt for 34 yards. Mitchell also made 10 tackles and had one interception.   For his career, Mitchell has appeared in 14 games on both sides of the ball.  He has caught 50 passes for 894 yards with seven touchdowns.  Mitchell has carried the ball 11 times for 37 yards with one touchdown.  He has returned 27 kickoffs for 529 yards with one touchdown and two punts for 51 yards. Mitchell has recorded 11 tackles with one interception.

Simon, who garners his second career accolade after being selected to the second-team in 2019, played in two games this season.   For his career, Simon has played every position on the offensive line and has appeared in 32 games.  He was selected as the BW Dick Van Alman Outstanding Offensive Lineman Award recipient and BW Ray E. Watts Most Valuable Offensive Player Award winner in 2019. Off the field, Simon is two-time Academic All-OAC selection, a Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar. 

Kendall, who earns his first accolade, appeared in two games and recorded 13 tackles one pass breakup and one blocked kick.  For his career, Kendall has recorded 60 tackles, three interceptions, seven pass breakups and one blocked kick.  He has also returned two punts for three yards,  Off the field, Kendall is an Academic All-OAC selection, a Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar.

Murray, Jr., who earns his third honor after being a second team selection in 2018 and 2019, appeared in two games and rushed for 121 yards on 40 carries with one touchdown.  For his career, Murray, Jr. has played in 22 games and has rushed for 1,627 yards on 338 carries with 19 touchdowns.  He caught 24 passes for 210 yards with one touchdown.

Williamson, who earns his first accolade after transferring from Mount Union, appeared in two games and recorded eight tackles, one interception, which he returned for 48 yards, and one pass breakup.
