Winters Breaks School Mark at OAC Split Squad Meet

ADA, OHIO –   The Baldwin Wallace University womens indoor track and field team placed second at the annual Ohio Athletic Conference Split Squad Meet in the Ohio Northern University Sports Center.

The Yellow Jacket women scored 111.75 points and placed second of five teams.

The BW women were led in the field events by senior Victoria Brown (Berlin Heights/ Western Reserve), who placed first in the high jump with a height of five-feet and 5 1/4 inches, and sophomore Melanie Winters (Stow/Munroe Falls), who placed  first in the long jump with a school-record leap of 18' 9.25" inches and placed second in the high jump with a height of 5' 0.5". In the weight throw, sophomores Kim Gallavan (Auburn Township/Kenton) placed first with a career-best throw of 52-feet and 2.5 inches and Maggie Urban (Cleveland/St. Joseph's) was second with a throw of 49' 1.75". In shot put, freshman Kasey Clouse (Norwalk) threw 36' 11.75" to place third.

The Yellow Jacket women in running events were led by senior Brooke Hradisky (Aurora) placed second in the 800 meter finishing in the time of 2:23.43. Also, senior Nicole Smith (Geneva) placed third in the 500 meter run crossing the finish line at 1:20.65. Winters placed first in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.98 seconds.

The BW women 4x200 meter relay team composed of Smith, freshman Katie Richter, freshman Rachel Holowecky (Amherst/Firelands), and sophomore Samatha Lang (Akron/Green) finished first with a mark of 1:49.09. In the 4x400 relay team consiting of Lang, Hradisky, Smith, and sophomore Ashley Wakut (Seven Hills) placed second with a time of 4:11.70.

The Yellow Jacket track and field team are back in action on Saturday, February 8 when they travel to Granville, Ohio to compete at the Denison University Invitational Meet Meet at 12:00 noon.  The next home meet is the annual Mid-February Meet on February 14 on the Harrison Dillard Track at 5:00 p.m.
