Women Trio Place as BW Track Teams Compete at Kent State

BEREA, Ohio – Select members of the Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed at the annual Kent State University Open Meet. The meet was unscored.

The BW women were led by senior distance-runner Brooke Hradisky (Aurora) who placed third in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:17.61.


Sophomore multi-events athlete Melanie Winters (Stow/ Stow-Munroe Falls) won the long jump with a school-record leap of 19-feet and three and one-quarter inches (19'3.25") and placed sixth in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 9.02 seconds. She also reset her own school record with an 8.91-second timing in a preliminary heat.

In addition, sophomore thrower Kim Gallavan (Auburn Township/ Chagrin Falls Kenston) placed seventh in the shot put with a season-best distance of 42'0.75".

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday, February 28 and Saturday, March 1 when they travel to Alliance to compete at the 2014 Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the University of Mount Union.
