Women's Track and Field Takes Runner-Up at Marv Frye

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor track and field team finished second of 10 teams with 100.5 points at the annual Marv Frye Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University at Selby Field.

The Yellow Jackets were led by its field event participants.  Leading the way was sophomore All-American thrower Kim Gallavan (Auburn Township/Kenston) as she won the shot put with a throw of 43'11.25" and the discus with a throw of 134'1". Also, freshman Kasey Clouse (Norwalk/ Western Reserve) was second in the discus (133'4"), sixth in the shot put (36'2.25") and 14th in the hammer and sophomore Maggie Urban (Cleveland/ St. Joseph Academy) was second in the hammer (146'1") and 12th in the shot put.

In addition in the field events, sophomore Marissa Hellisz (Parma/Normandy) won the long jump with a leap of 16' 10.5") and senior Victoria Brown (Berlin Center/ Western Reserve) won the high jump with a leap of 5' 02.25". 

In the running events, senior Brooke Hradisky (Aurora) continued her strong running as she placed second in the 800-meter run in 2:21.49, and senior Blair Vrcan (Mentor) and sophomore Lauren Fredriksen (Hamburg, N.Y.) placed second and fourth, respectively, in the 3000-meter steeplechase as Vrcan finished in 12:04.34 and Fredriksen in 13:47.77.  Also, the 4x100-meter relay team of Hellisz and fellow sophomores Sam Lang (Akron/ Green) and Ashley Wakut (Seven Hills/ Normandy) and freshmen Katie Richter (Canfield) placed third in 51.68 seconds. Richter also was fourth in the 100-meter dash in 12.90 seconds.

Next Saturday, April 12, BW returns to Delaware, Ohio to compete in the annual All-Ohio Division III Championship Meet at Ohio Wesleyan University at Sleby Field. Field events begin at 11:00 a.m.
