Winters and Snow Compete in All-Ohio Championships Heptathlon

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University All-American Melanie Winters (Stow/ Stow-Munroe Falls) and sophomore Abby Snow (Massillon/Jackson) competed at the All-Ohio Mulit-Event Championnships hosted by the University of Mount Union.  

Winters scored 4,743 points and placed first of 13 women's competitors  and Snow was sixth with 3,924 points in the seven-event heptathlon. 

On the first day, Winters won the 100-meter hurdles in 15.19 seconds for 817 points, high jump with a career-best leap of 5'6.5" for 842 points and 200-meter dash in 25.67 seconds for 826 points and was seventh in the shot put with a throw of 28'8.5" for 448 points.  Snow was second in the high jump at 5'1.75" for 701 points, fifth in the shot put at 29'2.75" for 458 points, eighth in the 200-meter dash in 28.42 seconds for 598 points and 10th in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.11 seconds for 584 points.

On the second day, Winters won the long jump with a leap of 18'11.75" for 783 points, was fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:28.45 for 712 points and 11th in the javelin with a throw of 70'2" for 315 points. Snow placed fifth in the long jumpmwith a leap of 15'9" for 506 points, fifth in the javelin with a throw of 102'4" for 499 points and ninth in the 800-meter run in 2:39.53 for 578 points.

Next Saturday, April 12, The BW men's and women's track and field teams travel Delaware to compete in the annual All-Ohio Division III Championship Meet at Ohio Wesleyan University at Sleby Field. Field events begin at 11:00 a.m.
