BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team suffered its first Ohio Athletic Conference defeat as it fell to Otterbein University, 9-0, inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse.  Playing conditions at the Pop Collins Tennis courts forced the match to be moved indoors.

BW (4-10, 3-1 OAC) snapped a three-match winning streak while Otterbein (8-4, 3-1 OAC) has now won three straight and four of its last five matches.

The Cardinals opened the match by taking all three doubles.   Despite dropping all three doubles matches, the Yellow Jacket duo of junior Hayley Peterson (Tulsa, Okla.) and Shannon Finkenthal (Beachwood) came up short in a hard fought 8-6 third doubles match.

Otterbein took all six singles matches to secure the shut out.  Sophomore Claire Watts (Medina/Highland), who is this week's OAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week,  had the match of the day as she fell in a three-set number two match by scores of 2-6, 7-5 and 1-6.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Monday, April 6 when they travel to Gambier for a rescheduled non-conference match against Kenyon College at the Jasper Tennis Center at 4:30 p.m.   The match was originally scheduled for February 14.   The next home match is on Monday, April 13 when the team hosts a women's and men's doubleheader non-conference match against Grove City (Pa.) at 3:30 p.m.
