Donalson Leads BW at Oberlin Fall Invitational

OBERLIN, Ohio --  Junior Mackenzie Donalson (Hilliard/ Davidson) had a perfect weekend at the annual Oberlin College Fall Women's Tennis Tournament on the Don Hunsinger Courts.  Donalson had a 3-0 record in singles and combined with junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC student-athlete Kelsey Blatt (Tallmadge) to produce a 2-0 doubles slate. 

In the first round, Donalson beat Emily Fuller of host Oberlin), 6-2 and 6-4. In the second round, she defeated Stephanie Vail of Allegheny (Pa.) College, 6-3 and 6-2. In the final round, Donalson topped Samantha Henricks of Juniata (Pa.) College, 6-0 and 6-3. In addition, Blatt, sophomore Claire Watts (Medina/Highland) and freshmen Kayla Eeg (Waterford, Pa./General McLane) and Shannon Finkenthal (Beachwood) each won one singles match.

In doubles play, Donalson and Blatt had a 2-0 mark as they beat John Carroll University's Kathrine Engel and Kyle Cousineau, 8-3, and topped Oberlin's Alex Khan and Fuller, 8-6.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action this Saturday, Sept. 20 when they complete their fall season by hosting NCAA Division II Clarion (Pa.) University at the "Pop" Collins Courts in Berea at 1:00 p.m.
