BW Women’s Tennis Drops First Spring Match to No. 35 Kalamazoo (Mich.)

KALAMAZOO, MICHIGAN -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team opened the spring portion of its 2014-15 schedule as it fell to No. 35-ranked Kalamazoo College, 9-0, in the Markin Center.

The Yellow Jackets (0-3) will play three more non-conference matches before its annual Spring Break Trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina.   Kalamazoo (1-0) swept all six individuals matches and all three doubles matches.

In doubles action, the No. 2 team of sophomores Claire Watts (Medina/Highland) and Anatasia Koval (Seven Hills/Normandy) dropped an 8-2 decision to Olivia Bouchard and Maria Franco. 

In singles play, junior Mackenzie Donalson (Hilliard/Davidson) and freshman Shannon Finkenthal (Beachwood) each lost a hard fought match.   Donalson lost her number three singles match to Bouchard by scores of 6-0 and 6-4.  Finkenthal dropped her fifth singles match to Siani Johnson by scores of 6-2 and 6-2.

BW returns to action on Saturday, February 14 when it travels to Gambier for a non-conference match against Kenyon College in the Jasper Tennis Center at 12 p.m.
