BW Women’s Tennis Team Loses to Grove City (Pa.), 5-4

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team lost to non-conference foe Grove City (Pa.) College, 5-4, on the "Pop" Collins Courts in a rare men's and women's double-dual versus the Wolverines.  In addition, the Yellow Jacket men (14-1) beat GCC men, 6-3.

In doubles play, GCC (9-5) won two of three matches to build a 2-1 lead against the Yellow Jackets (5-13).  The No.1 dou of junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC standout Kelsey Blatt (Tallmadge) and classmate Mackenzie Donalson (Hilliard/ Davidson) won 8-4.

In singles play, BW won three of six matches. At No.2, sophomore Claire Watts (Medina) won by the scores of 2-6, 6-3 and 11-9 in the third-set tie-breaker. At No.3 singles, Donalson won by a 6-3 and 7-5 count and improved her seasonal mark to a team-best 11-9 overall.  At No. 4, freshman Shannon Finkenthal (Beachwood) won by the scores of 3-6, 6-2 and 10-2 in the third-set tie-breaker.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday, April 17 when BW travels to Delaware, Ohio to play a non-conference match at traditional rival Ohio Wesleyan University at 3:30 p.m. BW also hosts the University of Mount Union in an Ohio Athletic Conference match on Saturday, April 11 at the Collins Courts at 1 p.m. and hosts The College of Wooster in a non-league match on Monday, April 20 at 3:30 p.m
