Men’s Lacrosse Wins Non-Conference Finale Versus St. Vincent (Pa.)

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse team won its non-conference finale against St. Vincent (Pa.) College by a score of 20-2 on Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium.

BW (6-1) was led by sophomore attack Mike Nanosky (Medina) as he scored a game and career high tying four goals and added an assist for a career-high tying five points. In addition to Nanosky, sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference attack Chad Steinwachs (Buffalo, N.Y./Williamsville North) added a career and game high four goals and sophomore midfielder Judson Huston (Delaware/Rutherford B. Hayes) scored three goals and added one assist for four points. Defensively, sophomore goalkeeper Nate Karatas (Penfield, N.Y.) made a career-high five saves and picked up his first career win. Senior OAC Defender-of-the-Year Josiah Greve (Milford) caused a season-high four turnovers and picked up two groundballs.

St. Vincent (1-6) was led by freshman attack Ben Price as he scored a team-high two goals. Junior goalkeeper Connor McMillen made seven saves for the Bearcats.

The Yellow Jackets scored the only five goals in the first quarter with the last coming when Huston buried a shot from 15 yards and was assisted by junior attack Brock Riemenschneider (Rocky River) with three seconds remaining. Steinwachs and Huston each scored two goals in the quarter and Nanosky netted the first goal of the contest.

In the second stanza, BW continued its run as it scored the next six goals to take an 11-0 lead when Nanosky netted an unassisted goal with 1:06 left in the half. Nanosky and Riemenschneider each scored two goals and Steinwachs and Huston also netted goals in the quarter. St. Vincent would cut the BW lead to 11-1 before halftime when Price scored an unassisted goal with seven seconds left on the clock.

In the third quarter the BW scored four unanswered and extended the 15-1 when senior midfielder Joey Briski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pine-Richland) picked up a groundball in front of the net and beat the Bearcats goalkeeper with 3:52 left in the quarter. Steinwachs, Nanosky and sophomore midfielder Thomas Moesch (Ithaca, N.Y.) scored the other three goals for the Yellow Jackets. Price score his second goal of the game for St. Vincent with 1:00 remaining in the quarter to make the score 15-2 heading into the final 15 minutes of play.

BW outscored the Bearcats 5-0 in the fourth with goals from senior midfielder Jarrod Gilliam (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange), sophomore midfielder Jon Mays (East Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville East), freshman attack Justin Presutti (Williamsville, N.Y./North), freshman attack Griffin Dunkle (Amherst, N.Y./Central) and Presutti closed out the scoring with his second of the game at the 3:42 mark.
