AUSTINTOWN, Ohio—The Co-Ohio Athletic Conference regular season champion Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse team was picked to finish second in the 2017 Ohio Athletic Conference Coaches' Preseason Poll.

BW, who was picked third a season ago, was selected second of nine teams with 59 points and four first place votes. The Yellow Jackets were behind defending OAC Tournament champion John Carroll University as they received 61 points and five first place votes. Otterbein University was third with 48 points, Capital University was fourth with 45 points and Ohio Northern University was fifth with 35 points.

"The second place pick shows the growth and progress that our men's lacrosse program has made over the last five years" said fifth-year Head Coach Jason Tarnow. "While it is nice to be picked second our goal as a program is to win an OAC title and build and sustain a championship caliber program."

Tarnow, who has a 39-13 record at Baldwin Wallace and 111-69 career record in his 13 years as a head coach, returns 40 letterwinners from last year's squad that won a school-record 14 games with a 14-3 and tied for first in the OAC with a 6-1 mark.

BW begins the 2017 campaign on Saturday and Sunday, February 18 and 19 when it travels to Cleveland for the Sixth City Showdown hosted be NCAA Division I Cleveland State University. The Yellow Jackets square off against Cleveland State on Saturday at 5 p.m. and Oberlin College on Sunday at 3 p.m.
