Fioritto Earns Second OAC Men’s Lacrosse Defender of the Week Honor

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference face-off specialist Alex Fioritto (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) has been named the OAC Men's Lacrosse Defender of the Week for his strong performances last week.

Fioritto, who garners his second OAC Defender of the Week accolade, led BW to a 2-0 record last week as it defeated St. Vincent (Pa.) College on Wednesday night and Wilmington College on Saturday afternoon.  He won 30 of 44 face-offs and collected 15 ground balls in the two games. Fioritto won 14 of 20 face-offs versus St. Vincent with seven ground balls and 16 of 24 face-offs with eight ground balls against Wilmington.

This season, he has a face-off percentage of .653, which is currently the 19th best in NCAA Division III.  Fioritto has won 98 of 150 face-offs and picked up a team-high 48 ground balls.

In his career, he is a two-time All-OAC selection and holds career school-records in ground balls (350) and in face-off wins wins (569). Last season, Fioritto set BW single-season records as he won 200 face-off wins and picked up 120 ground balls.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, April 5 when they travel to Tiffin for an OAC game against Heidelberg University on Riesen Field inside Hoernemann Stadium at 7 p.m.
