Five Men's Lacrosse Players Named to Academic All-OAC Team

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- 
Five Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse student-athletes have been named to the 2017 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team. 

In order to be selected as Academic All-OAC a student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and maintain varsity status.

Senior defensive midfielder Jarrod Gilliam (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange), senior long stick midfielder Brian Musial (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights), junior attackman Alex Binner (Eash Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville North), junior defender Jakob Jackson (Louisville) and sophomore goalkeeper Nate Karatas (Penfield, N.Y.) each were named to the spring Academic All-OAC team. 

Gilliam, who garners his third Academic All-OAC Academic accolade, is a physics major that carries a 3.71 grade point average (GPA). He is also a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigman honor society. This season he appeared in 15 games, caused a career-high eight turnovers, collected 11 ground balls and scored two goals. 

Musial, who earns his third Academic All-OAC Academic honor, is a chemistry major that carries a 3.76 GPA. He is a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. Musial started in all 15 games, caused a career-high 13 turnovers and collected 24 ground balls. 

Binner, who garners his second Academic All-OAC accolade, is a finance major that carries a 3.61 GPA. In addition, he is a Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar. On the field, Binner played in all 15 games, scored 12 goals and added five assists for 17 points. 

Jackson, who earns his second Academic All-OAC honor, is a sport management major that carries a 3.61 GPA. He also is Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma honor society. Jackson appeared in six games this season. 

Karatas, who garners his first Academic All-OAC accolade, is an exercise science and pre-physical therapy double major that carries a 3.59 GPA. He also is a Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar. Karatas appeared in nine games including threee starts in net, made a career-high 31 saves and finished the year with a 2-1 record and a save percentage of .500.
