BW Women Sixth And Men Eighth At All-Ohio Championships

 - The Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's cross-country teams took part in the All-Ohio Championships today (Friday, October 1, 2010) hosted by Cedarville University at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course in Cedarville, Ohio.

The women competed in a 5K race and finished in 6th of 19 Division III teams with 164 points.  Case Western won the meet with a total of 60 points.  The men, who competed in an 8K race, finished eighth of 20 Division III teams with 210 points.  Oberlin won the meet with a total of 66 points.

In addition, both the women and men had opportunity to run in a 5K and 8K open race respectively.

For the women, senior Kim Chinn (Zanesville/ West Muskingum) finished sixth of 138 runners covering the course in a time of 18:15. Sophomore Sarah Rospert (Milan/ Edison) was 11th in 18:58 while seniors Karin Coyne (Columbia Station/Columbia) and Katherine White (Berea) finished 35th and 53rd respectively in times of 19:28 and 19:51. Freshman Jamie Clapacs (Willoughby Hills/ Willoughby South) was 59th in 19:56; sophomore Lauren McGaughey (Allison Park, Pa./ Hampton) was 60th in 19:57 and freshman Brooke Hradisky 
(Aurora) crossed the finish 68th in 20:07.

In the open race, the BW women were led by senior Krysten Kovach (North Royalton/Padua Franciscan), who finished 55th of 269 runners, in a time of 20:06 while junior Julie Kotesovec (Litchfield/Medina Buckeye)was 21st in 13:02.

For the men, sophomore Kenny Janosko (Mentor) was fifth of 139 runners in 25:55 while junior Zach Szablewski (Tiffin/ Calvert) was 13th in 26:06. Fellow junior Thomas Wilkin finished 49th in 27:00. Next was sophomore Nicholas Jeffers (South Amherst/Firelands), who finished 66th overall in 27:28. Freshman Dusan Vasic (Broadview Heights/ Brecksville-Broadview Heights) was 77th in 27:59. Sophomores Andrew Ventura (Avon) and David Gerding (Strongsville) finished 81st and 99th respectively in 28:10 and 28:54.

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action in two weeks on Saturday, October 16 when both teams will travel to Oberlin, Ohio to take part in the Oberlin Inter-Regional at 10:30 a.m.
