BW Women's Cross Country Team Finishes Tied for Second and the Men are Fourth at OAC Championships

BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin Wallace University women's cross country team tied for second and the men finished fourth today (Saturday, October 30) at the 2010 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Meet, hosted by Otterbein University in Westerville. Despite not winning the title this season, the Yellow Jacket women have won 16 of the past 23 OAC titles. 

The women had 63 total points to tied with host Otterbein University for second.  The men had 110 points to place fourth.  Ohio Northern University won the women's title and the University of Mount Union captured the men's crown.


The women were led by senior Kim Chinn (Zanesville/ West Muskingum) who placed second of 135 total runners as she covered the course in 22:05 overall. She was joined as an All-OAC runner (Top-18 runnrers in the meet) by sophomore Sarah Rospert (Milan/ Edison) in eighth place in 22:54 and senior Karin Coyne (Columbia Station/ Columbia) in 12th place in 23:08 overall. Just missing All-OAC accolades was sophomoreLauren McGaughey (Allison Park, Pa./ Hampton) in 19th place in 23:40. Freshman Jamie Clapacs (Willoughby Hills/ South) rounded out the top-five as she placed 22nd in 23:49.


In addition for the women, senior Katie White (Berea) placed 28th in 23:59, freshman Lauren Hutka (North Ridgeville/ Grafton Midview) was 29th in 24:06, sophomore Shaina Kovach (Parma/ Valley Forge) was 46th in 24:41, junior Julie Kotesovec (Litchfield Twp./ Medina Buckeye) was 48th in 24:44, junior Judy Patterson (Aliquippa, Pa./ Monaca Center) was 52nd in 24:56, freshman Blair Vrcan (Mentor) was 53rd in 24:58, freshman Brooke Hradisky (Aurora) was 54th in 24:59, sophomore Tess Hoogeveen (Westerville/ South)was 59th in 25:07 and sophomore Lynne Fahy (Ontario, N.Y./ Wayne Central) was 64th in 25:12.


For the men, sophomore Kenny Janosko (Mentor) led the way as he placed third of 130 total runners and completed the course in 25:45. He was joined as an All-OAC runner (Top-18) by junior Zach Szablewski (Tiffin/ Calvert) in seventh place in 25:57. Also in the top five for BW were junior Tom Wilkin (Powel/ Olentangy Liberty) in 32nd place in 27:06, freshman Dusan Vasic (Broadview Heights/ Brecksville-Broadview Heights) in 34th place in 27:15 and sophomore David Gerding (Strongsville) in 37th in 27:17.
 

Also for the men, sophomore Nick Jeffers (South Amherst/ Firelands) in 45th in 27:28, sophomore Andy Ventura (Avon) in 53rd in 27:46, junior Michael Sisko (Olmsted Falls) in 55th in 28:19, freshman Stephen Humbert (Middletown/ Lakota East) in 74th in 28:37, senior Nate Nemire (Berlin Heights/ Milan Edison) in 92nd in 29:26 and senior Justin Brown (Sandusky/ Senior) in 99th in 29:43..


The Yellow Jackets are idle next weekend and return to action on Saturday, November 13 when they travel to Holland, Michigan and Hope College to compete at the 2010 NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championship Meet.  The women run at 11:00 a.m. and the men at 12:00 p.m.
