BEREA, OHIO - The defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion Baldwin Wallace University women's cross country team placed seventh and the men were 17th at the 2010 Oberlin College Inter-Regional Meet at Oberlin College today (Saturday, October 16) in Oberlin.
The women competed in a 6K race and the men in an 8K. The women finished seventh of 24 total teams with 185 total points. The men were 17th of 31 teams and scored 456 total points.
The women were led by senior Kim Chinn (Zanesville/ West Muskingum) who placed fifth overall out of 216 total runners in a time of 22:08.3. Sophomore Sarah Rospert (Milan/ Edison) was 18th in 22:45.0 while sophomore Lauren McGaughey (Allison Park, Pa./ Hampton) was 40th in a time of 23:15.8. Senior Karin Coyne (Columbia Station/Columbia) was 59th overall clocking a time of 23:35.0, while senior Katie White (Berea) rounded out the top-five with a time of 23:40.2, placing 63rd.
In addition for the women in the team race, junior Julie Kotesovec (Litchfield Township/Medina Buckeye)was 87th in 24:09.0, freshman Lauren Hutka (North Ridgeville/Midview) was 106th in 24:27.8, freshmanBrooke Hradisky (Aurora) crossed the line in 128th in 24:49.9, senior Krysten Kovach (North Royalton/Padua Franciscan) placed 130th in 24:52.8 and freshman Jamie Clapacs (Willoughby Hills/ Willoughby South) was 141st in 25:07.6.
For the men, sophomore Kenny Janosko (Mentor) was 26th of 284 runners in 25:47.4 while junior Zach Szablewski (Tiffin/ Calvert) was 33rd in 25:56.3. Fellow junior Thomas Wilkin (Powell/Olentangy Liberty)finished 106th in 26:52.2. Next was sophomore Nicholas Jeffers (South Amherst/Firelands), who finished 142nd overall in 27:20.7. Sophomore David Gerding (Strongsville) was 166th in a time of 27:40.4 and sophomore Andrew Ventura (Avon) was 182nd in 27:49.6.
Also for the men, freshman Dusan Vasic (Broadview Heights/ Brecksville-Broadview Heights) was 191st in a time of 27:58.7, while junior Mike Sisko (Olmsted Falls) was 227th (28:32.7), senior Justin Brown (Sandusky/Senior) was 257th (29:43.5), and freshman Stephen Humbert (Middletown/Lakota East) was 263rd (30:10.8).
The Yellow Jackets are idle next weekend and return to action on Saturday, Oct. 30 when they travel to Westerville and Otterbein University to compete at the 2010 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Meet. The meet begins at 11:00 a.m.
