Women's Swimming and Diving Drops OAC Dual to Ohio Northern

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving teams fell to Ohio Northern University in an Ohio Athletic Conference Dual meet in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center. 

BW (5-3, 1-2 OAC) lost to the Polar Bears (4-1, 3-1 OAC) by a final score of 127-112.

The Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore stroker Erika Nockengost (Cuyahoga Falls) as she won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:01.65, placed second in the 200-yard individual medley in a season-best time of 2:18.64 and placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke in a season-best time of 1:12.38.

Also, picking up a victory were sophomore freestyler Olivia Jacob (Canton/McKinley) and sophomore diver/stroker Ellie Clymer (Independence).  Jacob won the 1,650-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 19:01.43.  Clymer won the 1-meter five event with a total of 132.25 points. 

In addition, sophomore freestyler Allie Thorson (Amherst/Marion Steele) was the runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:04.88 and took second in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:37.44.  Senior freestyler Lena Kortis (Canton/Massillon Perry) finished second in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 26.46 seconds. Freshman stroker Marissa Kural (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) was second in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:01.65. Senior freestyler Jordyn Miller (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) took second in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:06.68.  Freshman diver Lauren Franz (Canton/GlenOak) finished second in the 1-meter six dive event with 149.03 total points.

In relay action, the 200-yard medley unit of Miller, Clymer, Kural and Kortis finished second in a season-best time of 1:57.62.  The 200-yard freestyle squad of junior stroker Claire Onchuck (Darrien, Ill./Hinsdale South), Thorson, senior stroker Courtney Severns (Bucyrus) and freshman stroker Lauren Martello (Huron/Sandusky) took second in a season-best time of 1:46.89.

BW is back in action on Saturday, January 20 when it travels to University Heights for an OAC dual meet against crosstown rival John Carroll University in the William H. Johnson Natatorium at 1:00 p.m.
