Women's Swimming and Diving Defeats Manchester (Ind.) For Third Straight Win

NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving teams continued its winning ways as it posted its third straight victory as it defeated Manchester (Ind.) University in a non-conference dual meet inside the Strauss-Peabody Aquatics and Fitness Center.

BW (3-1) defeated Manchester (0-1) by a final score of 215-67. The Yellow Jackets posted 14 individual champions and two relay winners.

BW was led by freshman stroker Marissa Kural (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) as she won three events by capturing the 200-yard butterfly in a career-best time of 2:21.77, the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:02.97 and the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:24.22. 

In addition, senior stroker Jordyn Miller (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer), senior freestyler Lena Kortis (Canton/Massillon Perry), sophomore freestyler Allie Thorson (Amherst/Marion L. Steele), sophomore stroker/diver Ellie Clymer (Independence) and freshman stroker Lauren Martello (Huron/Sandusky) all won two events.  Miller won the 200-backstroke in a season-best time of 2:08.89 and the 200-freestyle in a time of 2:22.84.  Kortis captured the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 59.44 seconds and the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 26.96.   Thorson earned the win in the 1000-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 11:37.47 and the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:39.11.  Clymer won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:14.85 and the six-dive 1-meter event with a career-best 172.30 points.  Martello picked up victories in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 59.44 seconds and the 100-yard backstroke in a career-best time of 1:06.45.

Also, earning a victory was sophomore stroker Erika Nockengost (Cuyahoga Falls) and freshman diver Lauren Franz (Canton/GlenOak).  Nockengost won the 200-yard breaststroke in a season-best time of 2:42.39.   Franz won the five-dive 1-meter event with a career-best 114.50 points.                                                                   

In Yellow Jacket relay action, the 200-yard medley relay unit of Miller, Clymer, Nockengost and Martello won in a time of 2:00.99.   The 200-yard freestyle squad of Martello, Kortis, junior freestyler Claire Onchuck (Darrien, Ill./Hinsdale South) and Miller earned the win in a time of 1:49.78 

BW is back in action on Saturday, November 11 when it travels to Erie, Pennsylvania for a non-conference dual meet against Penn State Behrend College inside the Junker Center at 1 p.m.
