Women's Swimming and Diving Drops OAC Dual to Mount Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving teams fell to the University of Mount in an Ohio Athletic Conference Dual meet inside the Hammond Natatorium inside the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.  

BW (5-2, 1-1 OAC) fell to the Mount Union (4-1, 1-1 OAC) by a final score of 129-106.

The Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore stroker/diver Ellie Clymer (Independence) as she won the 1-meter five dive event and the 100-yard breaststroke with 140.95 points and a time of 1:15.09.

In addition, freshman diver Lauren Franz (Canton/GlenOak) took second the 1-meter six dive event and was third in the 1-meter five dive event with career-best points of 157.05 and 117.50.   Freshman stroker Marissa Kural (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:02.46 and placed second in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:23.91. Senior stroker Courtney Severns (Bucyrus) was second in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:21.29. Sophomore freestyler Allie Thorson (Amherst/Marion L. Steele) was the runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle and took third in the 500-yard freestyle in times of 2:06.44 and 5:39.70. Freshman stroker Lauren Martello (Huron/Sandusky) took third in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke in times of 26.80 seconds and 1:08.85. Sophomore stroker Shari Gordnier (Centerville/Dayton Regional Stem) placed third in the 1650-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 21:00.48. Sophomore stroker Erika Nockengost (Cuyahoga Falls) finished third in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard butterfly in times of 2:25.74 and 1:05.01.  Junior stroker Claire Onchuck (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South) placed third in the 100-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 58.99 seconds.  Junior All-OAC stroker Sarah Krupp (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) was third in the 100-yard breaststroke in a season-best time 1:22.04.

In relay action, the 200-yard medley squad of Kural, Ellie Clymer, Nockengost and Martello took second in a time of 1:57.85.   The 200-yard freestyle unit of senior freestyler Lena Kortis (Canton/Massillon Perry), senior freestyler Jordyn Miller (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer), Thorson and Onchuck finished first in a time of 1:47.63. 

BW is back in action on Friday, Saturday and Sunday December 1-3 when it travels to Fredonia, New York to compete in the annual Blue Devil Invitational hosted by Fredonia University in the Steele Hall Natatorium.
