Women's Golf Placed First in the John Carroll University Fall Invitational

HUDSON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team took first at the John Carroll University Fall Invitational at the Ellsworth Meadows Golf Club. This is the team's first place win this season. 

BW was first of three teams in the two-day outing with a total of 721 strokes on the par-71 and 6,003 yard Ellsworth Meadows layout. Malone University finished second with 724 strokes and host John Carroll placed third with 726 stokes.

The Yellow Jackets were led by senior Kelly Linnabary (Westerville / Central) and freshmen Brooke Newsome (Clyde) as the duo both tied for fifth place. Linnabary carded rounds of 91 and 88 for a total of 179. Newsome posted rounds of 84 and 95 for a total of 179 as well. Freshmen Lauren Neher (Norwalk / Edison) placed seventh and posted rounds of 93 and 87 for a total of 180. Senior Leah Metzger (Ashland) finishing right behind Neher in eighth place and tallied rounds of 92 and 91 for a total of 183. Rounding out the top five was junior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection Kaitlynn Olak (Norwalk/St. Paul) as she had career-best rounds of 104 and 105 for a total of 209. 

Competing as individuals were sophomore Morgan Briley (Brunswick) and senior Mary Fraley(Cleveland/Mayfield). Briley led the individuals with rounds of 91 and 95 for a total of 186. Fraley had rounds of 113 and 121 for a total of 234.

BW is back in action on Saturday, October 2nd for the two-day outing when it travels to West Lafayette to compete in the Ohio Athletic Conference Preview at the River Greens Golf Course.
