BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College softball team lost a non-conference doubleheader today (Thursday, March 29, 2012) to cross-town rival Case Western Reserve University at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds Field by scores of 7-2 and 8-4. This marked the eighth game of a 10-game week for B-W and the fourth of a six-game homestand.
With the losses, the Yellow Jackets fall to 11-9 overall while the Spartans improved to 15-3 overall.
In game one, the B-W offense scored two runs on six hits and was led by sophomore leftfielder Tabitha Murray (Mogadore/ Field) who had two base hits in three at-bats with a double, homerun and two runs batted-in. Freshman shortstop Brittany Lightel (Tallmadge) went 2-for-3 and freshman centerfielder Mackenzie Brua (Avon) and sophomore third baseman Lauren Feciuch (Kent/ Field) each went 1-for-3.
On the mound, two Yellow Jacket pitchers allowed seven runs on 15 hits.
In game two, the B-W offense would score four runs on 12 hits and was led by Murray who went 3-for-4 with a run scored. Feciuch and Lightel both went 2-for-4 and sophomore CF Nikki Peskura (Strongsville) went 1-for-3 with her first career RBI.
On the mound, two Yellow Jacket pitchers allowed eight runs on 12 hits
B-W will conclude its six-game homestand with an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader against Muskingum University on Saturday, March 31 at 1:00 p.m. The Yellow Jackets do not play at home again until Saturday, April 14 when they host Wilmington College to the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds Field for an OAC doubleheader at 1:00 p.m.
