Men's Cross Country 2023 Season Preview

BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's cross country team, under the direction of ninth-year head coach Joe Eby, is ready to get back in action for the 2023-24 season. 

Coach Eby returns seven letterwinners and three Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selections from last year's squad that finished sixth at the OAC Championships. The team will feature six juniors, five sophomores, and 11 freshmen.

Featured among the returners is Academic All-OAC junior Carter Almady (Brunswick) and sophomore Stephen Faltay (Wellington /Keystone). Almady finished 42nd at the OAC Championship with an 8k time of 28:09.5 and had a season and career-best 26:14.7 at the NCAA Division lll Great Lakes Region Championships. Faltay finished 46th at the OAC Championship with an 8k time of 28:13.8 and had a season-best 8k time of 25:59.1 at the NCAA Division lll Great Lakes Region Championships.

Other veterans returning are junior Connor Foody (Pittsburgh, Pa. /North Allegheny), junior Academic All-OAC runner Joe Kelly (Lakewood), junior Academic All-OAC runner Matt Perry (Mentor), Gehrig Stanley (Twinsburg /Benedictine), and Jackson Tucker (Akron /Lake Center Christian School).

The Yellow Jackets open the 2023 campaign on Sept. 1 when they travel to Norton to compete in the 54th Annual Tommy Evans Invitational hosted by the University of Akron at the Silver Creek Metro Park Cross Country Trails.
