HILTON HEAD, South Carolina – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team won its second match of the annual spring break trip to the Hilton Head Tennis and Beach Resort when the Yellow Jackets defeated Juniata (Pa.) College, 5-4. The Yellow Jackets are 2-1 on the trip after two days.
BW (6-1) won a close, 5-4 victory against Juniata, Pa. College (0-3).
In doubles competetion the Yellow Jackets won two of three total matches. The number-one duo of All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC junior Peter Harris (Akron/ Revere) and All-OAC junior Doug Ganim (Westerville/ Olentangy Orange) won, 8-3. The No.3 tandem of sophomore Brian Carano (Akron/ Revere) and junior Kevin Fredrick (Archbold) also won their match, 9-7.
In singles competition BW won three of six matches. Ganim won at No.2 singles against Juniata's Sho Sato,6-3 and 6-1. Fredrick won at No.5 against Logan Moore, 3-6, 7-6 and 1-0 (10-4) in the third set tie-breaker. Carano won at No.6 against Juniata's Michael Lifshitz, 7-6 and 7-5.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Tuesday, March 10 when BW plays Millersville (Pa.) University in the fourth of five matches in Hilton Head at 8:30 a.m. BW plays the Catholic (Washington, D.C.) University of America on Wednesday, March 11 at 11:30 a.m. in its final match in Hilton Head.
The first northern match is on Saturday, March 21 at Defiance College. The first home match is on Tuesday, April 7 versus OAC and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University at 3:30 p.m.
