NEW CONCORD, Ohio - Baldwin Wallace University junior two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC forward Danny Ruple (Berea/Berea-Midpark) broke the school's all-time scoring record in the Yellow Jackets' 8-0 shutout win over Muskingum University at the North Athletic Turf Field.

Ruple scored two goals and added two assists for six points against the Fighting Muskies (5-9, 0-5 OAC), giving him 100 for his career. The previous record had been set by Carlin Vandendriessche as he totaled 95 points in 84 games from 2008-11. For his career, Ruple sits at 39 goals and 22 assists for the 100 points in just 53 games across almost three seasons.

The record-setting goal just happened to be the score that put BW (7-6-2, 2-2-1 OAC) on the scoreboard. Freshman midfielder Attila Nagy Jr. (Lakewood) assisted the reigning OAC Forward of the Year in the 17th minute, giving the Yellow Jackets the lead for good. Ruple would be involved in the next two goals as he assisted junior Academic All-OAC forward Joey Geither (Parma/Normandy) on BW's second goal and then added an unassisted goal himself in the 32nd minute. Muskingum's lone shot on goal in the period came in the 34th minute but senior forward Ryan Hassell (Southampton, Bermuda/Western Reserve Academy) was able to answer just a minute later as he capped off the half with an unassisted score.

In the second half, the Yellow Jackets remained on the attack as junior midfielder Kurt Raney (Mentor) added his second and third goals of the season in a two-minute span, including one off a penalty kick, to give BW a commanding 6-0 lead. Ruple and Hassell connected in the 67th minute for the senior's fourth goal of the season while freshman forward Michael Douzos (Amherst/Firelands) netted his first collegiate goal in the 78th minute to finish off a dominant 8-0 victory for the Yellow Jackets.

Junior goalkeeper Patrick Mehal (Richfield/Revere) made the save on the only shot on goal he faced all night, capping off a perfect week in the net after Wednesday night's scoreless double overtime tie with Heidelberg University. BW had the offensive advantage in shots (32-5), shots on goal (15-1) and corner kicks (8-2).

BW will head across town to take on OAC rival John Carroll University on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. inside Don Shula Stadium.
