BRADFORD, Pa. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team registered its first shutout of the season in a 4-0 victory over the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford (Pa.) in the fourth and final game of the Yellow Jackets road trip.

The Yellow Jackets (3-3-1 overall) were the aggressors from the start when junior midfielder Kurt Raney (Mentor) let off the first shot on goal just 1:52 into the game. BW's second look didn't miss as junior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference forward Joey Geither (Parma/Normandy) scored the only goal the Yellow Jackets would need for a victory in just the seventh minute.

Bradford's goalkeeper Sihle Sizani would keep the Panthers (1-6 overall) within striking distance, making saves on the next four shots. After a few more Yellow Jacket shots flew wide, a free kick presented junior Academic All-OAC forward Cole McDaniel (West Liberty/West Liberty-Salem) with an opportunity to net his first goal of the season as he picked up the rebound off Sizani and put it deep into the net. BW wasn't finished in the first half, however, as senior forward Ryan Hassell (Southampton, Bermuda/Western Reserve Academy) connected with freshman midfielder Dylan Keeling (Rocky River) for Keeling's first collegiate goal and a 3-0 lead.

The second half started as quickly as the first when Keeling assisted the reigning OAC Forward of the Year, junior two-time All-OAC and Academic All-OAC goalkeeper Danny Ruple (Berea/Berea-Midpark), in the 49th minute. Although Ruple's goal finished off the scoring for the afternoon, the Yellow Jackets still had plenty of opportunities to add to the lead in the period with three additional shots on goal that were saved and another shot that was blocked.

Senior Academic All-OAC goalkeeper Brian Haviland (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island) recorded his first win since 2016, saving the only two shots on goal he faced. Meanwhile, the back line of senior Academic All-OAC defender Jeremy Foust (Strongsville), senior defender JT Taubeneck (Parma/Normandy), junior defender Jake Woodruff (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin) and freshman defender Trevor Hamm (Strongsville) would help to hold the Panthers to only five total shots in the game.

BW returns to the friendly confines of George Finnie Stadium when the Yellow Jackets host non-conference foe Oberlin College on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m.
