BW Volleyball Defeats Capital for Third Straight Win

BEXLEY, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team defeated Capital Unversity, 3-0, in an Ohio Athletic Conference match inside the Capital Center.  The scores of the match were 25-22, 26-24 and 25-20. The victory was BW's third straight.

With the win, BW improves to 12-15 overall and 4-3 in the OAC. With the loss, Capital drops to 10-19 overall and 2-5 in the OAC.

The Yellow Jackets were led offensively by senior 2-time All-OAC outside hitter Amanda Sawicki (Mentor/Lake Catholic) with 13 kills. In addition, senior 2-time All-OAC and Academic All-OAC middle hitter Rachel Switalski (North Royalton/ Holy Name) had 12 kills and senior right side player Karianne Sifferlin (Wooster) had 11 . Junior setter Emily Nagle (Columbia Station/Columbia) set up the offense and had 29 set assists and was tied for second with 11 defensive digs.

Defensively, BW was led by senior libero Natalie Emmons (Ashland) with 25 digs. In addition to Nagle, junior hitter Taylor Burns (Tiffin/ Fostotia St. Wendelin) had 12 kills. Both junior right side hitter and defensive specialist Shannon Deleur (Olmsted Falls) and sophomore defensive specialist Paige Pileski (Elyria) each added 10.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Tuesday, October 23 when they host No.14-ranked the University of Mount Union in an OAC match in the Urpsrung Gymnasium at 7:00 p.m.
