Volleyball Team Defeats NCAA Division II Notre Dame

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team won its final non-conference match of the season tonight by defeating NCAA Division II Notre Dame College in straight sets in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.  The scores of the match were 25-15, 25-10 and 26-24.

With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 9-13 overall.  The Falcons fall to 4-14 overall.

BW was led offensively by senior All-OAC outside hitter Amanda Sawicki (Mentor/Lake Catholic) with 14 kills. In addition, junior middle hitter Kayla Harris (Lima) had seven kills and junior outside hitter and defensive specialist Taylor Burns (Tiffin/ Fostoria St. Wendelinn) had six. Senior setter Jessica Stitts (Eastlake/ North) set up the offense as she had 27 set assists.

Defensively, BW was led by junior right side hitter and defensive specialist Shannon Deleur (Olmsted Falls) and senior libero Natalie Emmons (Ashland) with eight digs each.

The Yellow Jackets travel this Saturday, October 6 to Ada to take on the Polar Bears of Ohio Northern University in an Ohio Athletic Conference match inside the ONU Sports Center at 1:00 p.m.
