BW Volleyball Team Falls To No. 13 Otterbein

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team fell in three straight sets tonight (Friday, September 29, 2012) to 13th-ranked (American Volleyball Coaches Association national poll) Otterbein University in an Ohio Athletic Conference match in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.  The scores of the match were 14-25, 23-25 and 17-25.

With the loss, the Yellow Jackets dropped their record to 8-13 overall and to 1-1 in the OAC.  The Cardinals improved to 12-5 and 2-0 in the OAC.

BW was led offensively by senior All-OAC outside hitters Amanda Sawicki (Mentor/ Lake Catholic) and Rachel Switalski (North Royalton/ Holy Name) with seven kills each. In addition to Sawicki and Switalski, junior outside hitter and defensive specialist Taylor Burns (Tiffin/ Fostoria St. Wendelinn) had six kills. Senior Jessica Stitts (Eastlake/ North) and junior Emily Nagle (Columbia Station/Columbia) set up the offense as they had 13 and nine set assists respectively.

Defensively, BW was led by junior right side hitter and defensive specialist Shannon Deleur (Olmsted Falls) with 13 digs and Burns with 11.

The Yellow Jackets close out their three-match homestand on Wednesday, October 3 when they hosts NCAA Division II Notre Dame College in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center at 7:00 p.m.
