BEREA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University wrestling head coach Jamie Gibbs has announced that Jason Zastrow will join his staff as an assistant coach for the 2017-18 season.

Zastrow brings nine years of coaching experience, including two years as a head coach, and spent a total of six years coaching at two different schools in the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, which is statistically the best wrestling conference in the country.

The two years Zastrow spent as a head coach were at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas, where he started a new Division III wrestling program from the ground up. By the end of his time at the Ozarks, he had bolstered the roster to 30 wrestlers.

Before begging the wrestling program at the Ozarks, Zastrow spent three years as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, where he helped to guide the program to three IIAC titles, National Dual titles and National Team titles. At Wartburg, he was responsible for coaching the upper weight classes and helped to produce 22 All-American wrestlers and seven individual champions.

His first collegiate coaching job came at Central College in Pella, Iowa, in August of 2007 where he helped to build team numbers from 11 wrestlers when he started to 32 by the time he left in 2010.

As a collegiate wrestler at Wartburg, Zastrow was an NCAA National Qualifier his senior year and his teams won four straight IIAC Championships and finished as either National Champions or National Runners-Up all four years.

Zastrow graduated from Wartburg in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in history and then went on to obtain a Master of Science in college athletic administration from Coker College in 2015.
