BEREA, Ohio – The two-time defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion and sixth-nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University wrestling team finished in fourth place at the 32nd John Summa Memorial Tournament on Seniors' and Parents' Day inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse. 

BW was fourth of 15 teams.  No. 14-nationally ranked Wabash (Ind.) College was the champion for the second straight year.

The Yellow Jackets were led by junior All-American and All-OAC 165-pounder Anthony Arroyo (Maumee), received a bye, won by pinfall in 4:09, earned a 17-2 technical fall, won by pinfall in 1:30 and claimed the championship with a 7-0 decision.

Finishing in second place were freshman 125-pounder Chad Craft (Dayton/Northmont) and junior 174-pounder Justin Ransom (Mason).  Chad Craft received a bye, won by pinfall in 4:07, earned an 11-3 major decision, picked up a 9-2 decision and fell in the championship match. Ransom received a bye, earned a 18-3 technical fall, picked up a 4-1 decision, won by forfeit and fell in the championship match.

Placing third were sophomore 125-pounder Christian Wellman (Applecreek/Waynedale) and freshman 149-pounder Michael Carpenter (Middleburg Heights/St. Edward).   Wellman received two byes, won a 9-8 decision, suffered a loss and earned a 13-7 decision. Carpenter received a bye, won a 10-4 and 3-1 decision, suffered a loss and won a 9-1 decision.

Earning fifth place were freshman 133-pounder Chase Craft (Dayton/Northmont), freshman 149-pounder Stanley Bleich (North Ridgeville/Elyria Catholic) and senior All-0AC 174-pounder Grant Rathburn (New Albany/Bishop Hartley). Chase Craft received a bye, earned a 17-1 technical fall, suffered a loss, earned decisions of 7-1, 5-2 and 8-7.  Bleich received a bye, suffered a loss, won decisions of 10-5 and 7-2, won by medical forfeit, earned the pinfall in 2:53 and won a 7-4 decision. Rathburn received a bye, won by pinfall in 4:54, suffered a loss, won by pinfalls of 5:25 and 1:47 and won be medical forfeit.

Placing sixth was sophomore 133-pounder Louie Lachapelle (Maumee).  Lachapelle received a bye, suffered a loss, received a bye, won by injury just three minutes into match, won by medical forfeit, earned a 13-5 major decision, earned a 13-5 major decision and lost his final match.

Earning seventh place was freshman 285-pounder Patrick Simon (Olmsted Falls).  Simon suffered a loss, earned a 6-1 decision, won by pinfall in 1:22, won decisions of 4-3 and 3-2 and suffered a loss before reaching his six-match max limit.

Placing eighth were sophomore 141-pounder Aaron Kelly (Rocky River) and freshman 157-pounder Kevin Kelly (North Olmsted). Aaron Kelly received a bye, suffered a loss, won decisions of 9-3, 8-2 and 12-10, suffered a loss in his final two matches. Kevin Kelly suffered a loss, received a bye, won decisions of 7-3 and 6-4, won an 8-0 major decision, suffered losses in his final two matches

BW returns to OAC action on Tuesday, February 6 when it travels to Tiffin for a match against Heidelberg University in Seiberling Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.  The Yellow Jackets close out the 2017-18 regular season when they host an OAC match against ninth-nationally ranked University of Mount Union in the Ursprung Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.
