Arroyo Garners Fifth Career OAC Wrestling Weekly Honor

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio –  Baldwin Wallace University junior All-American and All-Ohio Athletic Conference wrestler Anthony Arroyo (Maumee) has been selected as the OAC Wrestler of the Week for the third time this season and the fifth time in his career. 

Arroyo, who was honored on January 8 and February 5 as well as once each as freshman and sophomore, helped BW to win their third straight OAC Championships with a 22-9 victory over ninth-nationally ranked University of Mount Union last Tuesday. He won the only match not decided by a decision with a 16-0 technical fall in five minutes.

Arroyo, who is ranked third nationally at 165-pounds, went a perfect 5-0 in OAC action this season and is 10-0 in the last two seasons in conference action.  This season, he has a record of 27-1 with eight pins, six technical falls and two major decisions. 

For his career, Arroyo is tied for 18th in school history with 83 victories with 41 pins and just 16 losses.  He is a two-time first-team All-OAC selection, an All-Mideast region selection and first-team D3wrestling.com All-Freshman pick.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday and Saturday, February 23-24 when they travel to Crawfordsville, Indiana to compete in the NCAA Division III Central Regional hosted by Wabash College in the Knowling Fieldhouse.  Action begins on Friday at 11 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Saturday.
