Katz Garners First Career OAC Men's Tennis Weekly Accolade

BEREA, Ohio -- Baldwin Wallace University sophomore men's tennis player Nathan Katz (Upper Arlington/Bexley) has garnered his first career Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week accolade.

Katz went 2-0 in singles play and 2-0 in doubles action as the Yellow Jackets won a pair of 9-0 shut out non-conference dual matches against Penn State Behrend and Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College last Saturday.
 

In his first singles match of the day, Katz defeated David Buiter of Penn State Behrend at number one singles, 6-2 and 6-0.  He closed out the day with a third singles victory against Micah Byrum of Washington & Jefferson, 6-3 and 6-1. 

In doubles play, he teamed up with sophomore Jake Liebler (Medina) at number two singles to beat Nick Kapty and Jeremy Burnheimer of Penn State Behrend, 8-1, and Byrum and Greg Smith of Washington and Jefferson by identical scores of 8-1.

This season, Katz has an overall record of 4-5 this season, including a 2-1 mark at number three-singles.  He and Liebler have teamed up for a 4-2 record in doubles action.

In two seasons, Katz has a career record of 21-14 in singles and 8-3 in doubles,

BW is back in action on Sunday, March 8 when it opens its annual spring break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina with a non-conference match against Nazareth (N.Y.) College at 8:30 a.m.   The Yellow Jackets will play four other matches in Hilton Head.
