Harris Upsets Third Seed, Leads BW Men’s Tennis at ITA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC standout Peter Harris (Akron/Revere) upset the number three seed and won three total matches to lead the Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Regional Championships hosted by Wabash (Ind.) College.

Harris opened the tournament by knocking off third-seeded and nationally-ranked number one singles player John Carswell of Washington (Mo.) University in straight sets by scores of 7-6 (6) and 6-2.  He next defeated Tyler Wollmershauer of Westminster (Pa.) College by scores of 6-3 and 6-0 and then won his third match against the 28th seeded Collin Hass of Kenyon by scores of 6-2, 1-6 and 7-6 (3).

"Peter's victory against the third seed in his opening match was the biggest individual win in my time at BW," said 26th-year Head Coach Brian Rector, the winningest collegiate men's tennis coach in Ohio Athletic Conference and Ohio history.  "I could not be happier for Peter.  This was a great victory for him and our program."

In addition to Harris, senior Letch Radomirov (Fairview Park/Fairview) sophomore Jake Liebler (Medina) each picked up a victory.   Radomirov defeated William Pearl of Albion (Mich.) College by scores of 7-5 and 6-2.  Liebler beat Adam Schwartz of Earlham (Ind.) College by scores of 6-1 and 6-2.

In doubles action, the team of sophomore Brian Carano (Akron/Revere) and junior Kevin Fredrick (Archbold) won two matches.   Carano and Fredrick defeated Cody Herbuck and Sam Kreps of Hope (Mich.) College by a score of 8-2 then knocked off Saxon Day and Paulo Pliego of Monmouth (Ill.) College by a score of 8-6.

The Yellow Jackets close out the fall portion of their schedule when they hosts Westminster (Pa.) in a dual match on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts in the first event of the Homecoming festivities at 11 a.m.
