Men’s Soccer Falls Short Against Rival John Carroll

BEREA, Ohio—The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer was defeated by Ohio Athletic Conference and cross-town rival John Carroll University, 2-1, Tuesday evening on Tressel Field inside of The George Finnie Stadium.

John Carroll (10-3-1, 5-1 OAC) scored the first goal in the 33rd minute, but BW (4-11-2, 1-5 OAC) tied the game up, 1-1, when freshman forward Ryan Hassell (Southampton, BERMUDA / Western Reserve Academy) scored his fourth goal of the season.

The first half came to an end, and the score was still tied, 1-1. The Blue Streaks outshot the Yellow Jackets nine to four in the first half.  

In the second half John Carroll scored the game-winning goal in the 76th minute when Jesse Marinaro snuck a shot past the BW goalkeeper.

Senior goalkeeper Zach Haynes (Medina) made seven saves for the Yellow Jackets.  

The men's soccer team's next game is on Saturday, October 24, and is Seniors' and Parents' Day. BW hosts Otterbein University on Tressel Field inside of George Finnie Stadium at 1 p.m.
