Men’s Soccer Ties Allegheny (Pa.)

BEREA, Ohio—The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team tied Allegheny (Pa.) College, 1-1, Tuesday evening on Tressel Field inside of George Finne Stadium.

After 45 minutes of play the Yellow Jackets (2-4-1) and Gators (1-3-1) were both stuck at six shots each, but failed to score.

Allegheny opened up scoring in the second half when a cross from midfielder Liam McNammee, led to a header goal from sophomore forward Izzak Miller to give the Gators the 1-0 lead in the 61st minute.

BW quickly countered with a goal of their own, after a perfectly executed set piece by freshman midfielder Brayton Thornburg (Columbus, Ind./North), found an open Jack Shirley (Dublin/Scioto) for the equalizer in the 63rd minute.

After 110 minutes of play the score was still tied, 1-1, and the game ended in a tie.

Senior goalkeeper Zach Haynes (Medina) made six saves for the Yellow Jackets.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, September 19 when they travel to Waynesburg, Pennsylvania to face off against Waynesburg (Pa.) University in the second game of a men's and women's soccer doubleheader in John F. Wiley Stadium at 3:30 p.m.
